Rapsody The Idea of Beautiful

This is an album cover from one of my favorite artists. The photograph works both as the name of the album and also poses the question what is the idea of beautiful. In the photograph are two children in a lower class neighborhood. In this moment one is standing with her left arm on her hip and the other is sitting in the grass and both are looking toward the camera. Each child has deformed lips and is not what you would expect to ever be beautiful. Yet these two girls don't shy away from the camera, they are who they are and though their environment may not say it, their appearance may not say it, their eyes look straight at you and say we are happy we are beautiful. The problem for this cover might have been the placing of the title.  Placing the title at the top causes you to lose some of the environment surrounding the girls. Placing it at the bottom can be harder to notice and read. By placing the title in the middle right next to both girls helps the viewer relate the title of the album to the photograph and think of the question, what is the idea of beautiful.
